Malaika was founded in 2004 by Margarita Andrade and Goya Gallagher who moved to Egypt after growing up in Ecuador. They decided to utilize Egyptian cotton to make highquality bed linens which were not available in the local market. Malaika’s key focus is to teach hand embroidery to local women, giving them the opportunity to improve their economic standing by learning a valuable skill.
