Anut
This is not a vase that was made by a machine in a warehouse. It was made by hand — by an artisan glassblower in Old Cairo, who gathered molten recycled glass, shaped it with breath and skill, and pulled two small handles into place before it cooled. No two are exactly alike. The air bubbles suspended in the glass, the slight variation in color, the barely-there asymmetry — these are not imperfections. They are the signatures of the person who made it.
The form draws from the ancient amphora, one of history's most enduring shapes, reinterpreted here in a luminous, translucent blue that catches light the way water does. Use it for flowers, or simply leave it on a shelf and let it be exactly what it is: a small, irreplaceable object.
This piece is part of the ANUT Cairo collection. ANUT celebrates Egypt's rich heritage through handcrafted objects made by artisans across the country — rooted in community, tradition, and the belief that craft deserves to endure.
